Update 9/27/06:

Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) have introduced the Confidence in Vote Act of 2006 calling for the availability of paper ballots in the mid-term elections and asking the Fedral Government to finance these ballots.

Originaly proposed as the LET AMERICA VOTE ACT by Brad Friedman of Brad Blog the bill is receiving support from Velvet Revolution and other Election Reform entities such as VotersUnite.org and has garnered coverage in the New York Times.

Mexican Court Declares Calderon The Winner

The Mexican Federal Electoral Tribunal has today declared Felipe Calderon the winner in the Mexican Presidential Election, brushing aside claims of fraud by Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

"Felipe Calderon didn't win. Fraud won," opposition supporter Francisca Ojeda said, screaming to be heard over protesters throwing trash at the court and screaming "Fraud! Fraud!"

Lopez Obrador adviser Manuel Camacho told The Associated Press that the court's recommendation "does not take into account what is actually happening in the country."

"The court is going to be questioned seriously about its decision," he said, adding: "We have the responsibility to conduct ourselves peacefully."

The Mexican People Teach The World Democracy

The people of Mexico are currently teaching the world a lesson in how Democracy is supposed to work. They are standing up for their rights against an election system that has failed them.
Of course you won't hear about this in the Main Stream Media here in the U.S.

Also, the Legislators in Mexico, have set an example for other politicians on how to stand up to the ruling party when needed.
