Haven't heard a thing. I love his cameos, too. Never miss 'em....
Being a script kind of movie lover, the silent films usually bore me... but... maybe not if they're Hitchcock. Of course, Hitchcock did need to work into becoming Hitchcock....
I just loved him on TV. He made me laugh. Most kids, I think, were a bit frightened by him, but I really loved him. He did some cool things in film, but I'm having a hard time envisioning myself liking his silent films. And maybe he didn't have those GREAT mournful cheeks when he was young....
I too watched his shows - some scared me, but then I enjoyed being scared - loved to sit up Saturday nights and watch all the alien invasion sci-fi flicks.
Sometimes I think it would be the very best if we could transport our current minds and mentalities back into ourselves as children. I think we could fix just about everything if that were possible.
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder. —Albert Einstein
Did you hear they were restoring his silent films for re-release?
ReplyDeleteI always like to hunt for his cameos - such as on the cover of the newspaper in the bottom of the boat in Lifeboat.
ReplyDeleteDid you see him here? As the bus arrives just after the brawl at the beginning.

I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of silent films by him, but I saw it in an article the other day.
ReplyDeleteHere, although it's hard to tell if we get to see them without going to the Olympics!
