I've been following this year's series on Animal Planet Friday nights. This years campaign has not been a good one so far. Between broken ship engines, a broken helicopter, being tailed by a Japanese ship, crew members rebelling, smashed propellers on their inflatable runabout, fresh water leaking out of the tanks, running low on engine oil and the intentional sinking of the Ady Gil, things have not gone well. They have yet to find the whaling fleet to intercede in the slaughter.
Well this year's campaign has already ended although the show is only about halfway through. It remains to be seen how it will all pan out.
At this point in the show the Steve Irwin is on its way to port to have the helicopter repaired and drop off the three crew members who want to leave. (They had only signed on for four weeks, but have already been out four about eight weeks due to various circumstances.)
The ice breaker Bob Barker is trying to shake the Japanese ship after leaving a French Island - the French wouldn't let the Japanese come into their waters, giving the Barker a way to escape - one problem - they are about to head into a huge storm.
Looking through the list of missions at your more link I saw the ship Robert Hunter and wondered if it had anything to do with singer/songwriter Robert Hunter.
I turns out is was for Greenpeace co-founder Robert Hunter instead.
I wish I could remember the name of the big strapping handsome millionaire I met thirty years ago who was determined to go out and physically impede whalers with Greenpeace right after he finished some business deal. I don't even remember where he was from. I wanna say Atlanta, but I think that was a different millionaire from thirty years ago. They all sort of run together after a while, you know. Anyway, the guy was GUNG-HO. Maybe even Watson was once a big strapping handsome millionaire on a mission.... The guy was serious as a heart attack and a wild man for triple-plus sure.
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder. —Albert Einstein

ReplyDeleteSo Watson is propagandizing Max Keiser? OMG! Maybe he thinks he can raise more money sounding successful....
